Three months after earning the tag "neophyte senator," Francis Escudero can now also be called a proud "neophyte father."

For this parent, however, first time is twice the fun.

In a text message sent to dzBB radio, Escudero said his wife Christine gave birth to twins – a boy and a girl – who weigh "roughly four pounds each."

The 37-year-old Escudero was also quoted as saying that, "We're all okay. And my wife Christine is okay."

Christine gave birth Friday (today) on her seventh month of pregnancy, dzBB radio said.

Interestingly, the twins's birthday falls on the same day that former Air Force T/Sgt. Vidal Doble, who reportedly used the codename "Double," stood as the lone resource person at the Senate's reopening of the "Hello, Garci" wiretap controversy.

The boy is named Joaquin while the girl is named Cecilia, dzBB radio added.Earlier reports said the senator skipped several election sorties during the last campaign period because he had to attend to his pregnant wife.

After more than seven years of trying to have a baby, Escudero announced last March that his wife was pregnant."God is really good and He knows how to make up," Escudero said in an earlier radio interview.

The couple got married in December 1999 with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, former President Joseph Estrada, businessmen Eduardo Cojuangco, Lucio Tan and Manuel Pangilinan, among others, as principal sponsors. - GMANews.TV

(What a shame on this presidential wannabe Chiz. Like father, like son. His father Sonny is on Lucio Tan’s payroll, a regular “furniture and fixture” in the Yellow Economic Lucifer’s executive suite at Allied Bank Center. He has this Sino economic saboteur as his wedding principal sponsor? As Chairman on Committee of Ways and Means in the Senate, how can he still do his duty to lead in crucifying smugglers and tax evaders when his godfather is the country’s top economic saboteur? So young, yet so corrupt!)
